twice shy

When we hurt our muscles, have our hearts broken, or our faith shattered – there is intelligence in the old adage of time and space. But at some point that which helps us heal will begin to hinder our recovery. Resting an injury truly works – but a full recuperation involves reintroducing ourselves to the very same activities that find us now shy.
